Taking pictures of 'things' has always interested me, but until about three years ago, I never seriously pursued it. I was intrigued by the beauty in everyday objects; a round bale of hay, the symmetry of a barn, the repetition in various farm implements.
Growing up and working on a farm certainly impacts my worldview. After years of 4-H where I showed hogs, raised market lambs (a feat in itself), and worked with horses, I realize now that those experiences allow me to see things a little differently.
The experiences in my life shape how I see things, and as a result, the photographs I take.
Most of the photos in my gallery were taken on working farms near Owensboro and southern Indiana, some 'around the house', and a few at a local family-owned nursery. These photos offer a brief glimpse into the world that few know, understand, and/or appreciate. Until you've spent hours raking hay, a day working cattle, or weeks cutting tobacco, it's difficult to say that you understand farm life. My perspective is an advantage as a photographer because I've had those experiences.
